INTRODUCTION

Researching your family history and piecing it all together is like one big jigsaw.
It takes lots of patience, as you will probably be doing it for years. It becomes very
addictive and you become more and more determined to find the next piece. It will, of
course, never be complete, you just go back as far as you can. You could never imagine
how many people actually spend all their free time looking at micro-film and dusty
old books and papers. It appears, we are a nation of would be genealogists, sometimes
	referred to as 'nosey' people!

You find yourself in places you would never dream you'd be, such as walking around old graveyards reading the headstones, just in case one of your ancestors is laid to rest there! You get a mixed reaction from people, they either invite you around and get all the old photo's out, or they say they know nothing.

All in all, family history research can be very satisfying. When you eventually find that elusive ancestor you've been searching for, for so long, you get a feeling that I can only describe as an achievement well worth waiting for. Only to realise that you're about to start all over again, searching for someone else.
